Food that increases metabolism

We have learned about the metabolism. If not, check on the below link.
Metabolism science
Increasing the metabolism is not a one day process. Stabilizing the metabolism is more important than increasing the metabolism. Including the foods mentioned below into your everyday routine helps to stabilize the metabolism.

i) Water.
70% of the body is water, 20% is protein, and the rest are the carbohydrates, fats and other minerals. The body requires the same set of inputs to stay fit. The metabolism stays stable when the body gets water content in the same proportion.
Warm water heals the ailments in tissues and muscles. It cleanses the blood. Toxic substances flush out of the body through warm water easily.

ii) Ginger.
Ginger is a well-known cooking ingredient all over the world. Adding a small dice of ginger in the form of powder/paste/ juice helps to detox the blood.

iii) Honey.
Honey in warm water eases the muscles. The people involving in workouts can consume honey in little every day. It prevents muscle sore and good for nerves too.

iv) Green tea
Green tea is an excellent detoxifier. Consume a little green tea. Having more than two cups of green tea can turn you anemic. One cup can do wonders on your body.

v) Berries
All kind of berries like strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, or blackberry regulates the insulin secretion and induces the metabolism functions. It hydrates the skin and adds up glow during fat burning zone.

vi) Spices
Cinnamon, cayenne pepper and other pungent spices increase the metabolism and it produces some heat in the organs which makes burning the calories possible.

vii) Plantain pith
Juice from plantain pith helps to cleanse the kidney. Having plantain pith in the form of juice along buttermilk or soup once in a week increases the metabolism.

viii) Coconut water
Coconut water is an excellent hydrating element, which increases metabolism.

ix) Horse gram
Horse gram increases the body temperature. Regular intake of horse gram powder at least one teaspoon helps in weight loss by increasing the metabolism.

x) flaxseed
Flaxseed is an overall ingredient. Regular addition of flaxseed in the diet improves hair strength and increases the metabolism. intake of 10 grams of flaxseed does wonder on the body.

These ingredients have an incredible effect on metabolism. The regular intake of these food items in small amount improves the metabolism.

Alert:
The effects of each item may vary on the individual. Sometimes, some of these food items may increase the temperature in the body. It is better to test your body reaction when you add up a food item from the list and check the outcome.

Hormones and metabolism

We know that metabolism is a Bio-Chemical reaction in the body.

We cannot miss the roles of the hormone in metabolism.

There are several glands which produce the hormones. Among them, we are going to discuss a few hormone roles in metabolism.

i) Insulin
We all know that Insulin is a culprit involved in Diabetes. During the digestion process once the food stored and process out from the stomach, comes the liver and pancreas. Pancreas secrets the Insulin.

The role of Insulin: To store the fat in the body for future use.

Higher the Insulin in the body higher the fat storage. It reduces Metabolism.

When does pancreas produce Insulin:

i) Carbohydrate increases insulin production.
ii) After having a meal, once the food crosses the stomach, pancreas produce the Insulin.

To note: When you skip a meal, there is no Insulin production. When there is a less sugar Intake or less carbohydrate in the food, Insulin production is less.
That is why the experts suggest no carb or low carb diet for weight reduction.

ii) Thyroxine:
Thyroid gland secrets the Thyroxine hormone. Increase and decrease in this hormone affect metabolism. The hormone relates to heart health to the pregnancy. Increase in Thyroxine results in weight loss and Decrease in Thyroxine results in weight gain. To maintain a stable metabolism, stable thyroxine is essential.

iii) Cortisol:
Almost every human cells have a receptor for Cortisol hormone. It is called the stress hormone. The increase in cortisol production affects the overall body and creates an adverse effect on health. Balance in the hormone is essential for the metabolism to be stable.

Factors increasing Cortisol: Stress and Anger.

iv) Estrogen and Testosterone
This Estrogen is a sex hormone for women, and Testosterone is a sex hormone for men. The high and low level of the sex hormone can affect the metabolism. The Estrogen in women causes weight gain during the puberty and after menopause.

v) Growth hormone
Growth hormone is a product of pituitary gland, involves in human height during the growing stage. The stability of the hormone relates to muscle building and converting the food into energy in other words metabolism.

vi) Ghrelin
It is a hunger hormone. The role of the hormone is to signal the brain to induce the appetite. Brain and pancreas release this hormone. This hormone induces growth hormone release.

Controlling Ghrelin:
a) Controlling the Ghrelin is possible by intermittent fasting. Due to various reasons, if a person tends to skip a meal, continuously, the person loses the appetite. So the Ghrelin stops signaling the brain during that time. Intermittent fasting helps to control ghrelin.

b) Gastric bypass surgery: The Ghrelin level reduces after this surgery.

c) As the Ghrelin signals to store the fat, Fact in the food intake can help to control the Ghrelin.

vii) Leptin
Fat cells in the adipose tissue produce Leptin. Leptin is a satiety hormone. It sends a message to the brain, that the body has enough fat and there is no need for fat storage. So the brain controls the Ghrelin and there is no appetite. When the body has no food as input, it feeds through fat cells.

How to balance the Leptin level
a) The person who is obese has lots of Leptin in the body but attains the Leptin intolerance due to higher leptin levels. The obese people have to try intermittent fasting after feeding saturated fats like Ghee /butter/cheese. After the fat intake the blood level attains satiety, it helps to reduce the hunger.

b) The proper functioning body releases Leptin after fat intake, It helps during dieting and exercising to maintain the metabolism.

It is important to consume little fat every day, because,
i) It reduces the snacking habit.
ii) Fasting is easy.
iii) Induces the body to eat its own fat cells.
iv) Signals the brain not to store fat.

viii) Progesterone
This is a menstrual hormone. Low level of Progesterone leads to a high level on Estrogen which increases weight gain in women. The signs of reduced Progesterone are an irregular period cycle, difficulty in getting pregnant, or Abnormal uterus bleeding.

Progesterone level can be set right through supplements.

To set straight the metabolism, the required procedure is

i) To reduce the Insulin production by fasting and low carb diet.
ii) To intake fat (Ketone diet structure).
iii) To exercise or Yoga to attain the peaceful mind for the hormone balance.
iv) A well-balanced diet as per the BMI of the individual.

Weight Loss and Fitness Science

Survey says that only 20 people of 100 are happy about their weights. More than half among them are the people who want to reduce their weight. rest of them needs weight gain, toned muscle, or a six-pack. This blog explains the science behind the Weight loss and Fitness Programs.

We all know the science about the nutrition and digestion from the school curriculum. The school curriculum says the food digested and stores the components for later use.

After the digestion, the food comes to the process called metabolism. The metabolism is what everyone should understand. The chemical reaction taking place in these energy components fueling the body is metabolism.

The process involved in Metabolism

Anabolism and Catabolism are the processes involved in fueling and storing the energy. The Balance between both involves several enzymes and Hormones.

Biochemically speaking the energy components are recognized by the body as Mono, Di, and Polysaccharides. During digestion, these components become Glucose.
The cells do further chemical reactions by splitting the Glucose into 2 Pyruvate, and the Pyruvate produces the ATP. Adenosine Tri Phosphate, which is called energy Currency.
If the person never uses energy, the ATP is not formed. Instead, the pyruvates are again converted to glucose and stored in the form of Glucogen in the Liver.
Similarly, Fats are converted into pyruvates, if the energy is not used, the body stores the fat in the form of Adipose tissue.

The video embedded can explain in detail.
